Hey, looking good! What happened?

JustDressageIt 02-21-2009 12:09 AM

When I bought him, he was a good 200-300 lbs underweight so I decided to stall board him so he could pack on the pounds. He was turned out during the day in a smallish pen by himself, it was plank with a hotwire running along the top of the planks (top and bottom) so the horses wouldn't chew the wire. Somehow he got his foot above the plank but under the wire and ripped the wire out, cutting his leg. That white thing in the first picture is a flexor tendon that was 25% cut.
The kicker.... ?
He was stalled the night after he cut his leg, and turned back out in the morning for a couple hours before anyone noticed that he had cut himself.
Vet sait it was over 18 hours old by the time he saw it.

Wow. I would not have been happy if that happened to my horse and noone new until the next day.

Could the barn be held liable? What is the clause in their contract?

appylover31803 02-21-2009 12:24 AM

Wow Allie!
It looks SO much better!

It looks like its healing up nicely.

JustDressageIt 02-21-2009 12:53 AM

Thank you everyone!! My hard work (being out there at least every second day to re-bandage) has paid off, so far anyways!!

MIEventer.. I have no idea. Would there be?

MagnoliaBar 02-21-2009 01:28 AM

It was an accident and the place can not be held liable even though they caught it a bit late in the day. It is healing nicely so you should be fine.

JustDressageIt 02-21-2009 01:35 AM

Wish they had at least said sorry and offered some sort of compensation...

mudypony 02-21-2009 09:12 AM

WOW! It looks so much better! You've done such a great job with him Allie.
