Saddles that work well for high withered horses
My horse is 11 and he's developed higher withers now so I've decided that it's time for a new saddle. I was thinking of getting an Antares one because they look as if they would fit high withered horses. Does anyone use one of these saddle on their horse? And do they fit well? Also considering CWD or Delgrange. Any suggestions? Thanks -Whitney:D
I use a Stübben saddle and my horse has fairly high withers... he seems to like it. how high are we talking about though?

Honestly, all I will ever recommend is Stübben, it is the most comfortable saddle I've ridden in(and I've ridden in some pretty nice ones too) and my horses seem to like it:
anyways, there's my input xD
good luck on your saddle hunting!
I use an M. Toulouse Celine on my high withered TB. I have enough room for 3 fingers. And the saddle is soooooo comfortable. But then again my old saddle was like sitting on concrete so anything else would be comfortable, lol.
Just a question. Why would your horse develop higher withers at age 11? How is his weight overall?
Beautiful horse and you jump him well!
Do you mean that his withers have gotten rounder - like a mutton wither - that is what it appears to be in the picture. It is also possible that his back has sunk a little giving that impression but it doesn't appear so in the pictures. The bone structure on a horse is set by the time he is ~4ish so growing a higher wither isn't possible; only changing the muscle and fat around it.
I use Collegiate on my high withered horse and it gives lots of clearance on withers (no extra relief pad or anything).
Well yes, I realize that their wither can't grow higher it's just the best way i could think of to explain it. I'm not totally sure what mutton withers are (i googled it and it doesn't look like that's what he has). His back might have sunk down a bit. That's the closest thing I can think of. I will try to get a side shot of him and also what my saddle looks like on him in the next couple days.
A friend of mine just bought an Antares, it's soooo nice!!! Found it used.
Anyway, I don't want to sound rude so if it sounds like it comes across that way I'm totally not trying to, but it looks like he's not completely using his back over fences and rounding it, A little hollow to me. I think he's just lost some of his top line a little.
