New Horse Lover
I'm by no means new to the world of horses. My parents raised Arabians and had me in the saddle before I could even walk. When I bought my first horse, with money I'd saved, at the age of 18 I felt like I'd finally achieved something. I never did care for the looks of my parents horses so I broadened my search until I found a lady selling a Lippit Morgan named Pearl. It was love a first site and I rode Pearl home that very day. My parents were less then pleased with the "tank", as they called her, but Pearl was there to stay. Me and Pearl grew up together in a way. When she turned 39,old I know, I bought another Lippit named Roxie. Last year Pearl died at age 41 and I planted forget me nots around her grave. Often I wonder if I'll ever stray from the Old type Morgans for another breed. I ride, English and western, and drive Roxie. She is built heavy but is still athletic, she often acts more human then anything it seems. I own 2 dogs as well, both Shepherds who love to run beside the cart. My house is from the mid 1800s and has low ceilings with thick support beams, perfect for hitting your head off of in the morning. Pearl is my avatar and the horse below is Roxie, who is being social with the neighbor's old horse.
Howdy! Lovely horses they are.
They look beautiful!
I know the excitement of getting a new horse, but not with money saved up alone ;A;
41 is probably the oldest I've ever heard of a horse. I know most that die at 22 to 28.
Pearl was 29 years old in that picture and just started to get a sway back. My farrier often made comments about Pearl and Roxie having the soundest hooves out of all the horses he treats. Most of his other horses wear shoes but mine go bear foot all the time. I'm trying to find a friend for Roxie but I still don't feel like its the right thing to replace Pearl just yet. But you all probably know how hard it is to find the horse that calls to you so it maybe tommorrow or next year, who knows.

Well, I can't fault your taste in horses. What beautiful girls!
Like you, my Forum name pays homage to my first horse, an Appaloosa mare, who passed away last year. Irreplaceable aren't they?
Looking forward to hearing more about Roxie.
That mare is gorgeous, welcome to the forum! looking forwards to getting to know you more :D
Welcome :-) My Uncle had a horse that passed away at age 31, I thought that was old.

Welcome, beautiful mares!!
Welcome to the forum!
Pearl looked to be a lovely girl. I really love that build. Sturdy, but elegant. I'm sure she taught you a lot. May she rest in peace.
Roxie is quite the looker as well. Looks like she has the exact same build as Pearl did. :)
