Hay Prices??
I hope I put this in the right place.
Just out of curiousity what does one square bale of hay go for in price in your area?? We make our own, but around here (Virginia) we can usually get a bale of good quality hay for 3-4$ a bale.
So what's it go for in your area? :D

Here is SW NM for alfalfa we are paying $12 for a 2 strand bale, $16 for a 3 strand, and $130+ for coastal bermuda. Many people we know are starting to import from TX and OK if they can, since it is a little cheaper.

on Long Island anywhere from 9-15 dollar, mainly because everything has to be trucked in!

This year we are finding it for 4.00-4.50 in the field, I paid 5 for it in the barn...

Woah I never realized hay would be that expensive elsewhere....we really are lucky here then!

$16 for grass hay at the fees store, $6 for local at the feed store. $4 for bales from the field. Needless to say, we get it from the field.

Around here I've seen prices from $4 in the field to $6 delivered (close by).

Last year it was $10-12 here, so we traveled out of state to buy it for $7 including gas. This year, many farmers are still trying to charge $7+ here despite the good growing season. My two suppliers are both selling for $3-3.50 now.

Alfalfa, 3- string bales, 12-14$
Oathay, forage, 10-14$
Pasture hay, local 10-15$ IF it can be found AND is horse quality
Grasshay feedstore 15-23$, depending on where( 50 miles make a huge difference, together with direction of the 50 miles as to quality and price.
I currently have grasshay that's being trucked in from Nevada, heavy bales, 100-110 lbs, 22$, but well worth it. No leftovers from that one.
