The economy--and the horse industry
Is it JUST me or has anyone else seen a huge demand for horse sales, training and boarding? In a normal economy we couldnt do any of these but since the economys hit this resession, we've gained many horses in for training and board. If anything were at an all time high. Anyone else experiancing this?
A huge demand? I think the general trend is sales are down.

That must be in your little section of the world!! (lol)
Here in the Southeast, and with friends in the Northeast, Texas, and Montana, the horse business couldn't be any worse.

Really? Im down in CA. Ive talked to many of my local trainer friends and they are going out of buisness. How much is training going for right now anyway? Im charging 450 a month including board. So I really dont see any signifficant diffrance considering thats about how much the other trainers are charging.
Maybe im just lucky lol.

Right where I am, it has been about the same. We charge $600 a month plus board. She has a full barn. But most places are being hit hard. People are having a hard time making their board payments let alone training. More and more people are leasing and switching to field board most places.

Really? Spastic--where are you?
My board is 125-375
and training for basic is 450
but for charro is 1500 per month...but i only have 1 in for charro lol
In a normal economy, I didnt have any requests but now, im turning buisness down. It just seems weird to me.

Board is 125-225 a month (Usually the horses in training are either in a pen or stall so 165/225)
Training is $20 a ride so it ends up being about $600 a month.
