Bathing my horse. Help!!!
my horse, hates being washed! i know that most horses hate baths, but im going to a riding camp in a week so i want to make her clean and shiny! :D does anyone know any secrets to make it a bit more enjoyable, to make them sparkle more, and to keep them clean after??? thaks a heap!
i had a horse that didnt like baths so i used to get a really damp cloth and wash her with that it takes longer but will make them pretty much as clean as with bathing
lots o' treats :D
Haha, pretty much - try and make it a fun experience. Lots of rewards for being well behaved, and soothing words to keep her calm and happy. Keep the baths short in the beginning, so she doesn't get stressed out right off the bat. Over time, you can lengthen the time you spend washing her ie: shampooing mane and tail, lathering up her whole body. Just start off with light hosings and short times in the water. Eventually, she'll grow to enjoy it.
Have a good time at camp :)

My horse hates beeing clean and hates whe i wash him. But he knows that if I want hem do do something or go somewhere, it may take time but I get what I want and I dont ask hes oppinion on that. Ik actually it takes time and i do ask hes oppinion;) But for the end i get what i want.. so he just lets me wash him , but he dont enjoy it .. jet .. ;)
This is going to sound really soft, but my show girls always behaved better if I used warm water. My last hack would not stand still if I used cold water but as soon as I switched to warm she was an angel to wash.
I guess it's the same if we wanted a bath, I'd much prefer to have warm water!! :D
Yes, i forgot to ad, that warm water really helps ... and warm weather also :)
warm water & chaff... thats my secret... i have 2 ppl helpin me as it gets it one quicker... 1 holds her while she eats & me + 1 rush about soapin her up & rinsing her off :D
