An Example of Bad Breeding

Stumbled across this story on the news today. The poor thing! It doesn't say whether the cross was intentional or otherwise, but her conformation shocked me.

Wow...that is just sad. The poor thing should just be put down. She looks like she can barely walk....

just looks like a fat mini to me.... If it's healthy and the people love it... who really cares?

Looks like your normal backyard-bred mini (unfortunately)

It is so ugly it is almost cute. So long as it is comfortable, let it be. However, it does look like it's back legs and shoulders would be very painful to stand that way.

Looks like a mini with some kind of dwafism. My aunt breeds minis and a couple people that she knows inbreeds them too closely and they get a dwarf-ish mini every few years... My Aunt has NEVER gotten a dwarf or otherwise deformed mini, and her herd has been closed for 20 years now (no new outside blood). She's careful about who gets to breed and she sells the young ones that are too closely related.

Agreed =/ People want to go smaller and smaller, and don't realize how messed up the baby might end up =/

That tears my heart out..

That is so sad! The poor thing! If they think she is in pain, then put her down. Otherwise, she is kind of a cute little thing to look at.

Easy stomach, Easy Stomach, That thing should of had a warning on this thread about the photo. I can't image why anyone who bred a shetland pony to a New Forest pony. That thing is ugly and I bet it will have problem later in life.
