What Color Do YOU Think He Is??? I have had the hardest time figuring out what color to call Bandit. I've heard everything from chocolate, bay, seal brown, and just brown. I just don't know what to call him. He's very uniquely colored. His nose is a palomino color as with his hind end (sort of), while his body is a lighter brown, his neck is a darker brown, mane and tail are black/brown, and his legs have all 4 white stockings. I'm just so confused!! He's a mutt! Just kidding. His mother, AQHA Holey San Gold was a palomino and his father, AQHA Westphal Question was Black. Sooo, any suggestions? Thanks! He's a little wet in this one, so he's darker http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...corn88/053.jpg Here you can see the palomino nose I was talking about http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...corn88/002.jpg This is what he looked like when I brought him home http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...88/bandit4.jpg Same day http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...88/bandit2.jpg His face again http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...rn88/001-1.jpg Just a different angle http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...corn88/067.jpg |
Woooow...I honestly have no idea, it does sort of defy a category, doesn't it? He's amazing though, I love it. Sorry I couldn't help! |
Oh its ok! I absolutely LOVE his coloring! It just makes him that much more special to me I guess.....But yea, he does defy any catergory I've found! |
that is a good puzzle isn't it, lol. Well my thoughts are buckskin, maybe a chocolate variety of it. I also see bay but lead more towards the buckskin do to his lighter coloring. How long have you had him? is he outside all day? Have you seen him shed out? Does he have a dorsal stripe? Iknow lots of questions, sorry :-) |
I'm actually leaning more toward red roan and just brown lol. Id have to look a little closer to find out more... |
I told you it was tricky!!!! Here are some more pictures that I took TODAY. Hopefully you can see more of his ever-confusing colors..... I agree with you toosleepy, I have always leaned towards a chocolate buckskin with him...Hopefully these pictures help convey it. I've had him since last August. I saw him when he was shed out and he was more of a chocolate brown then, but he's starting to lighten out with a caramel color. He is outside during the day and stalled at night. And thats a negative on the dorsal stripe. He doesn't have any dun markings.... Ok so here we go! http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...corn88/436.jpg http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...corn88/437.jpg http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...corn88/438.jpg http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...corn88/439.jpg http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...corn88/440.jpg http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...corn88/441.jpg http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...corn88/447.jpg Hope this helps!! |
He's bay. His mane and tail are black and his legs just above his socks are black, so if he didn't have socks his legs would be black. There is a gene that causes the lightening of the is face, and also when you first got him it looks like his belly and the tops of his legs are lighter too, I can't for the life of me remember it ... but my mare has it too. But yes, his colour is definitely bay. |
yea i was thinking bay as well. he definately looks like a bay to me. but i wouldnt rule out he chocolate buckskin, could be that too...Lol! but i think bay |
wow he looks different in all the photos lol one of them he looks bay then the other he looks chocolate |
He's like the horse from The Wizard of Oz! He never looks the same color! Anyway, I would agree with bay, but his hind end, his belly, and his face are a caramel color. But his mane/tail and the black on his legs makes me think bay. Its a toss up I think.....At times I think he will turn out to be more of a chocolate buckskin color and others I think he looks bay. I just don't know, that's why I asked you guys!!! |
