Any guesses what breed she is?

My mare Ruby is a "Heinz 57" horse... I've no idea what breeds might be in her. But I've always been a little curious, so I thought I'd ask. Any ideas?

She's 14 hands tall, if that helps at all. Oh, and if you go look at my other horses, Bandit and Dante are both out of her.

QHxArab maybe?

She has a lot of feather, which makes me think some draft a LOOONG way back. Can definately see some arab traits in there as well!

She is VERY cute. She looks like she has some Welsh or Quarter Pony in there. Possible some Arab in her grandparents or something.

Just to let you know... If she still has all of those feathers, I would probably trim them. To prevent scratches and chapped heels. (Also more attractive lol)

She has a sweet little face :) ~E

I would agree that she has welsh in her somewhere.

Yupp. Her sweet little face and body conformation make me see that a dominant breed in her pedigree.
I love Welshes! :D

yea i was thinking welsh. so maybe welsh cross Qh? not sure though... But i think she has welsh in her

morganshow11 03-17-2009 06:44 AM

I'm not sure, but she kinda looks like a Bashkir CurlyxWelsh.

girl_on_black_pony 03-17-2009 08:43 PM

Welsh, arab, maybe QH
Feathering doesn't always mean draft. All horses have feathering. It's natural protection.

You should trim it though. I hate unruly feather XD
