My mother lied, and other things I have learned this month.
Yup it was a month ago today that I had my wreck and I have learned a lot
My mother lied, there is no underwear inspection when they wheel you into emergency, I never felt that I would get thrown out because my panties were built for comfort, and older!
When medical people say this is going to hurt, they are not lying.
Nurses are totally AWESOME
Ambulances suck, Saskatchewan roads suck worse, riding in the ambulance on Saskatchewan roads, well not on my recommended list.
When did you last have mandarin oranges in jello? I had forgotten how good they are.
When people tell you that broken ribs hurt, believe them.
I can wear dresses and house dresses an not die. A month must be the longest I have ever gone without wearing jeans.
On the same subject, I am amazed at how well my farmer husband and son did when they went shopping for said dresses, thy chose great things, and as a bonus they were all in the sale.
Dieting, want some help? Try this, put on a tight figure eight brace, to pull your shoulders back, then put a cast on one arm and a sling on the other. Now go eat, see that's what they mean when they talk about eating slow.
There is little in the world that makes you more humble, than being reliant on others for everything.
Ambulance drivers are sadists. When I took a fall and broke my arm the "driver" hit every pothole between the barn and the hospital..it was a 15 minute "no lights or sirens" ride as I wasn't in any danger..unless it was from the ride itself :)
that is such a great post!! you might share that with the hospital staff.
I remember when I gave birth to my second son how GOOD that so-called bad hospital food was. And how grateful I was for the very kind care I recieved. it's nice to be mothered, though I am not going to go as far as have another baby, or break bones off a horse to get that.
I had some recent neck issues that I went to see my doc about . . . . again. I told him that I thought it might be related to coming off the horse about 6 or 7 weeks ago. he says, "Don't fall off." . . . . yeah, right.
Depends on the hospital as to how the food is, when my son was born I was offered some sort of broth that resembled toilet water and dry toast. True about the underwear inspection though, my hubby is the only one concerned about my panties. Get well soon and get back into your jeans, your skinny jeans!

I tore a hamstring, called tripler to make an appointment. Idiot told me I didnt need and appointment I could just walk in.
well umm If I could walk I wouldnt need a doctor now would I ? and have any of you guys ever seen Tripler on Oahu ? Its on the side of a cliff a couple thousand feet above the parking lot with about a gazillion steps.
Finally make it up there, hobble in, they take me in and first thing they do is tell me I have High blood pressure.
"Oh yeh ? no kidding, I JUST CLIMBED A FRIKKING MOUNTAIN " arrrrrrr..
My favorite is while they are driving and hitting every pothole possible, they're trying to put an IV in at the same time lol *hits pothole, oops I missed* and so true when you hear medical professionals tell you "this is going to hurt" because last time that was said to me I passed out from pain and I have a high pain tolerance! Get well soon and try not to get to addicted to that jello ;)
I don't know....My ambulance drivers were pretty good.
When I fell off P, Besides knocking the wind out of me so bad I didn't know if I ever would breath again, they thought I broke my hip. I said I could walk and didn't want an ambulance, the driver talked me into a ride by saying,
#1 you get to hospital faster
#2 You get waited on first
#3 You get better drugs..... I was sold...Give me a ride
In the ambulance strapped head to toe on a gurney, I said I was going to have a panic attack, And I was panicking! I started counting from 1-10 over and over again, They gave me a morphine derivative for pain and panic.
It was a great ride from then on.
I did think about my undies at least once during the ride.
I had my breeches on and I always wear my "big girl panties" with them, When they went to do radiographs, I was very pleased that I didn't have to disrobe at all. PHEW!
Powerful drugs affect your memory, that's why I forgot some:wink:
My son installed an on screen keyboard for me, slow but a lot easier than trying to type, who knew!
I'm having to practice what I preach, 28 days on and I'm Still taking pills by the clock. Tried cutting back a couple of times, so not ready yet.
It is important to exercise everything that can move as much as possible.
Oh yes, give thanks if you have a strong farmer type husband. The worst part of my day is getting up, it varies from painful to excruciatingly painful. He helps me get in position, then when I give the word he helps me sit, he is firm and matter of fact, doesn't mess around, and I love him for it.
