Swollen Hocks
My mare's hocks are swollen and squishy on the inside. (When I mean squishy, I mean you can push on it and you can tell that there's liquid of some sort in there. She didn't mind me pushing, pinching, etc.) Here's an older picture of her with a circle showing where the swelling is taking place. Please remember it's happening on both hocks.

I havn't been able to ride her for about a week, but I have come to the stable to feed her, clean her stall, and just make sure she's a-ok.

Today I went to ride her on a trail, and she was being very lazy/slow and we weren't even past the stable yet, when it hit me. Maybe she's not just acting lazy, maybe somethings wrong. So I hopped off, ran my hands up and down her legs, feeling for heat, bumps, hidden cuts, etc. That's when I noticed that not only one but both hocks are swollen and hot on the inside. She's not lame at all, she's been running around the pasture like a wild Indian with all her buddies, even jumped a few sticks out there. For all I know, she could have had this for the past week and I wouldn't have even noticed! I even checked about 10 other horse's hocks to see if there was even something different because besides being a bit lazy (which she can be sometimes) she seemed perfectly normal.
So I skipped the trail today, groomed her real good, and put some Surpass cream (Anti-Inflammatory Cream) on the swollen/hot areas of her hocks, and left in for the night. I felt bad for leaving her in because it's such a nice night, but I knew if I kept her out her buddy, Neela, would try to lick the cream off.

Any suggestions on what it could be?
I'm calling the vet first thing tomorrow, but I figured I should see if anyone on here has had this problem before.
Could it be some weird abscess? On both hocks?

My first thought is a bogged hock but I think the swelling for that is on the point of the hock. IDK. What a mystery. Let us know what the vet says.

If there's heat I would lean towards a sprain. Cold hosing will help with the heat and swelling till the vet looks at her.

Keep us posted.

What did the vet say?

Actually I ended up not calling the vet.
The surpass cream cleared it all up. No heat, swelling, nothing.
