Cash's hoof trim pics

Yesterday BFH came and trimmed Cash's hooves. We both took some pics so hopefully between us we covered all areas. I think she may add him to her case studies. :) kewl...

There are more pics on Cash's hoof trim page comments are welcome.

Here are a few, note his front left is a wonky twisted or swept hoof/pastern

Looks good! Much better than before. :) Nice!

Looks much better. Have him out again in 4 weeks MAX to reassess. This is very interesting. Did he do more of a roll on the inside of that hoof, or is it just the pic? Looks like it in the first pic, but not on the 2nd pic.

I just noticed too, how in the before pic you can see that the outside of her hoof was taller than the inside. Looks like an exaggerated version of something I'm dealing with down the road, but my guy doesn't have that twist.

Maybe this will not be an issue for your young rider at all!! Here's hoping! Yipee!

NM, Amber didn't say anything about coming sooner than 6 weeks but she knows I'll holler if I see it getting too out of shape. I am sure she did roll the inside as it won't really be in ground contact when walking. As you can see, breakover is to the outside corner.

I doubt it will affect him other than that joint being stressed for so many years. I'll give him msm to help offset that issue.

Don't forget T, that I'm out again sooner than six for Cash, as the rest of your herd we did the week before, so it would be 5 weeks for Cash, 6 for the rest.

NM, This hoof is a very special one, so what I did with it, I wouldn't necessarily do with all that toe in and flare like that, there were several things that I had to consider.

That's true, I wasn't even thinking of the 5-6 week thing. Right, his hoof isn't a simple pigeontoe, it's wonky. lol I think it would be interesting to have a set of xrays of his lower leg/pastern fetlock area. Might scare the crud out of me tho. ;)

I'm pretty sure his coffin bone would be about 1/3 smaller on the inner side than the outer, just from looking at all the angles.

That's easy for you to say. lol

Oh, I'm so glad it was you looking after this horse. (I'm kinda bad at keeping track of who's who and who knows who on this site.) If you guys do have x-rays done it would be very interesting to see. Both the pastern and the hoof.

Why do you think the coffin bone would be smaller on the inside?

Appyt 03-23-2009 09:46 AM

I wondered why you called her a he.. LOL No problem, I can't keep up with everybody either. I doubt I do the xrays unless there is a good reason. Not really important enough just for curiousity sake. $$ and all that.

He's a very friendly horse, friendlier if you are not carrying a halter.. LOL
