pig slop??

I have a few questions about buying slop- where can i find good clean slop with no trash in it?

Can i go around the the restaurants and ask them for their left overs?

Is it clean?

I wouldnt need much- im only needing to feed a medium sized pig not a big ol meat pig, lol.

will slop make my pig stinky? Lol.

Where would i put it?

One of the food grade barrels?

Does it need to have a special vent like for making spirits?

I thought i had to let the food ferment before making slop.

Is it better than store bought pig feed?

Why do you want to risk feeding slop? Better to feed straight grain, and household scraps, they grow slow and taste good:wink:

subbing. Inyerested in buying a pig soon

I only ever fed my pigs pellets and beet pulp, all soaked. They also got a powdered fat top dressing. But they were show pigs being shown at 270 pounds so it's a bit different LOL. My friend had a pet sow and they would feed pellets and table scraps. I think the movies are grossly misinformed/behind the Times when they show a farmer dumping slop to them.

I like the grain with added meat fat and molasses mix but id like to try slop- just looks like a nice treat but how often would be recommended to feed it?

I'm not going to eat my pig but I feed him the tractor supply brand of pellets (just a couple cups a day) and then give him my tables scraps (minus the meat)....
