Our first dressage show!
Ok, first dressage schooling show (done alongside the 'actual' show), but still! I've never been in or even ever attended any kind of horse show, so it was a little scary! .
It was a weekend sort of thing, so my horse, Capataz, spent a 4 days there. We only did two tests, because I wanted it to be super easy and chill as possible. He was AMAZING. He acted like a veteran and was happy and cheerful the whole time. No spooking, bolting, shying or calling out even at any time, including in the ring! Maybe a little nervous in the warm up ring, since he always so worried about crossing other horses' paths, but even then, he was just amazing.
As for our actual tests... got 61.something% on the first and 62.7% on the second. I was pretty tense during the whole thing, so I was a little tight on the reins so he never got to stretch into the contact, but he was good nonetheless.
Sad thing is, trotting up the center line for the final time, I finally relaxed and let go of the reins and he stretched forward... and that was my only 8, hahaha. But at least I know I just have to RELAX!
And here are some photos. =) You're welcome to comment or critique anything, if you wish. But I am pretty aware of my mistakes.
(Photos are linked from facebook, let me know if it doesn't work)
From the second test:
Just a thing I noticed.. you hold a lot of tension in your face. I bet relaxing your face will also help relax the rest of you :)
You guys look great! congratulations, you and your boy did very well. Showing is supposed to be fun, not torture for the both of you. Sounds like you guys had a great time.
I was pretty tense. XP. But most of my scunching is the sun in my face. I must be part vampire because going outside on a gray day is still too bright for me and I spend my life squinting. Are modest sunglasses allowed in the ring I wonder???
