Shampoo question

Ok, I was wondering is it safe to use human shampoo on my horse? Or baby shampoo?

Speed Racer 08-12-2013 04:30 PM

Yes. If it's safe for humans, it's safe for horses. I haven't bought 'horse' shampoo in years. Suave works just fine.

I use olive oil based ethnic shampoo a lot. We also use Tide. I know some dont like that, but it works beautifully.

Absolutely! I am currently stocked up on VO5 shampoo & conditioner from the Dollar Store. That said, you simply CANNOT beat Orvus Paste for a super clean, slick & shiny coat, IMO - it's the only thing I used when I showed Paints.

I have a case of caress silkening body wash, would that be ok?

Speed Racer 08-12-2013 04:57 PM

Yes. Anything that's safe for people is safe for horses.

Thanks!

It's best to use no shampoo at all. Water is best.

Agreed, I haven't used any soap on my horses in several years.
