Back in the Saddle
Wow, I haven't been on here in a long time...
Anyhoo, after having my baby I just got back in the saddle yesterday
on my black qh "Midnight". She hadn't rode more than a year and
she is a little high strung, but she did so good yesterday, I was so
happy! She even did so good, my 11 year old brother rode her by himself
and we led the little kids around on her. Now mind you, the last time my
husband decided to saddle up this mare she played rodeo with him and
acted a fool! I think one of the reasons she acts up is because she can
hear the other mares calling her and she wants to go back into
the field with them, but we can't do nothing about that seeing we
really have no other place to ride until we haul her to the riding arena.
Since this horse hasn't rode in more than a year, does anyone have
any suggestions what kind of work in the saddle or ground work I
should be doing with her? I plan on turning her into an event horse
(barrel, speed, poles) because she neck reins so easily.
i don' t have any advice, but I just wanted to say woo hoo for you!!! yay!! welcome back girly!
YEE Thanks, I was smiling ear to ear all day! I forgot how much
a simple ride can make you feel so much better! :D
oh it totally fixes anything I agree!
Get her in the round pen and get her attention back on you. Lots of ground work. This will help to get her in shape too. Take the lunge off and do some join up excersises. This has always done wonders for me ; )
A ride will fix any thing good on ya girl
