I have a friend from England that is touring the US with a band. I'm going to meet up with him in Texas. He isn't sightseeing, but this is his first time in the states. When I go see him I want to give him a little something that is uniquely southern (I'm from the south) but now I'm drawing a blank. I figured I would ask here since there are people from all over...what is something from the South that you think is neat, something you don't have where you are from? It could be a food or something, but he would need to be able to take it back on the plane if needed.
I thought of making a couple of mini loaves of banana nut bread...and that's where my ideas ended, lol.
Be careful with the food. There are regulations now that you can't take certain things on plane...
I'd go with the souvenir. I'm not from the South, so can't suggest anything (hopefully other people will), but souvenir will be a good memory (while food will be just gone in no time :) ).
Well, he'll be in the states until September 15th so not worried so much about taking food on the plane. I will see him on the August 29th and I'm sure that he will eat it in that time frame. We have a farmers market on Thursdays so I'm planning on hitting that up for something. Even the gifty things normally have a little label with the address of who made it so it will show that it came from Mississippi.
