Showing help?

I'm planning to take the horse I ride into a " Family Horse" showing class at a local show. I'm new to showing, and this will be my first ever show. Does anyone know whats involved in it? ie. what would I need to do? what do I wear? is there a specific course/routine to follow?
I could really do with some advice/help as i've no idea what to do!

I have never heard of the class. Can you tell us a little about it?

Family Horse is normal showing but it has to be a horse that is suitable for all of the family to ride, but only one person rides in the class not several people..

Sorry, more questions:

- Is the class English or Western?
- Is it a flat class or over fences?

Sorry, I have never heard of these before. Sounds fun!

It's English, and I'm presuming its Flat :)

Well since I know nothing about the actual class, I can't speak to whether there will be a little "test" for you to remember. I can suggest clothing though. Since it's English I would wear breeches if you have them and tall boots. If you don't have tall boots I would think nicely cleaned paddock boots and half chaps would be just fine for a schooling show. For a shirt, just a nice polo tucked in could be good or if you want to go a little dressier, maybe an English show shirt with a show coat. You might want to check with whoever is hosting the show for any special dress code. And of course, wear a helmet and black gloves.

okay thanks! so beige/tan breeches, i've got paddock boots - so get some chaps? and a white polo? With black gloves and hat. i'll try and find an email address to email them and see what they say :)

My guess is if it's a tiny show then that attire should be ok but it never hurts to check. Have a great time!

Do you think it's okay to wear short boots with Leather Half Chaps?
