Hi I'm buying a filly that goes into the canter really well with just one squeeze but anyway. I was NEVER taught canter leads in the 6 years of lessons i've had! But I have allways been on horses so lazy that they just would canter for 2 seconds if that. This little filly is the first horse I've EVERY ridden who is trained properly. So as terrible as this sounds. How do you know which lead your on do you feel it or somthing? I know it sound really dumb but I really haven't been taught. :(
No question is dumb if you don't know the answer. The correct lead is the one that is on the inside of the arena - leg that is opposite of the rail. You can look down and see if that is the leg that comes first. Also the wrong lead will feel choppy.
