Critique a possible lease
I would like your opinions on this horse that i may possibly be leasing out. He is an arabian. I dont know anything else, because i have just emailed the seller back. Anyway, any opinions or critique on this horse would be greatly appreciated! :D
Hmm.. what should we critique? ;)
I'd love to get to know a little more about him, then i could give ya better advice ;)
The only real help i can give from here, is just make sure that he is at your level of riding, and that you can properly handle him :)
I own a horse and let her past owner use her for 5 year old kid lessons.. and the kids kept messing with her mouth and making her harder for me to ride. She was a finished horse, but everytime i ride her, she is rough around the edges again from the last person who rode her.
So, from the point of view from someone who lets other people ride their horse... i have to say: Make sure you understand exactly what the owner expects from the horse, and that you don't accidentally do the wrong thing, and inadvertently teach him to go uncollected or something. I'd be more careful with a leased horse than i would with my own x_x!
Do let us know more about him! And about your level of riding too! =) I hope everything works out for ya sweetie!
Ok, well i am riding in an intermediate class, and about to go into a higher class. This is the info i have just recieved on this horse:
Here is the link to the ad, you can read a bit more about him there.
*link not working*
Abel does not have any medical problems whatsoever, Never injures himself, ive had him for 2 years and only had a few nicks from barbwire, his teeth are in immaculate condition. He is in show condition at the moment even though he's currently paddocked.
He does not require shoeing as he has very solid feet and they are pretty strong and is perfectly fine going barefoot.
Very easy to catch, do feet, worm you don't have to even touch his feet and he'll pick em up for you.
He doesn't float very well but only due to not being on one for so long.
I am quite happy to lease him out for 12 months to the right person and in 12 months if you decide you want to buy him we can talk about that.
He's not a very dominent horse but im not sure as he's only ever been with one other horse since ive had him, he has a beautiful nature around people and other horses and loves cuddles.
His stud name is "Kyang Khan" but his name is Abel.
About his age, if your still interested we can organise a time for you to come out and you can tell me what you think as I don't want you to judge him on his age before you see him. Hope thats ok with you.
Let me know if you have any more questions
And then on the link here is the info on him:
Stunning 15hh 19yo Registered bay Purebred arabian crabbet gelding. Was Bred for endurance and has done it in the past and has also been taught dressage, Lunges on voice commands and is extremly responsive, he is a very nice type with excellent confirmation and 100% sound, this horse has to be seen to be believed. This boy has an incredible temperament and is an absolute pleasure to own, he can be out of work for 6 months and be ridden with no problems.
Very good doer, doesn't require alot of feeding or shoeing, very cheap horse to own.
He would be best suited for confident intermediate to experienced rider looking for a pleasure horse.
Currently paddocked and in top condition.
Why is the owner putting the horse up for lease?
Is that you on the horse? you look good, just remember to keep your shoulders back and thumbs on top!
He is beautiful, but in the first ad part she would not mention that he is 19yo, and if you had wanted to buy him in a year I think you may do better with a younger horse then with one that wont last for probably another 10 years...
Lol, barnrat, no that is not me on the horse. That is his owner. :D
Annika: gee, thanks for all the info :D :D :D that must have taken a long time to write up. I understand what you are saying, so you only have draw a picture if you so feel inclined :)
i would use him as a general trail horse. Might do some PC later this year, so he might be used for that. He has been trained in dressage.
The owner looks scared to be up on the horse, is that just me?
I have been on the arabian registery site, and i have just discovered that this boy is actually 22, not 19. Since this is a lot older than what i was asking for (i asked for 16 or under), i have decided that i will not be leasing him out.
Awww im sorry he didn't work out for you sweetie :(
There is a reason for everything though.. and who knows what awesome possibilities await ya!
*hugs of reassurance and whatnot* :)
