Any idea...?
Okay well, I have a 3 year old Welsh Pony mare and today she started laying down on her side, which she doesn't do that often at all. It seems like her stomach is bothering her or something and it keeps making noise like she has really bad gas. She's not eating at all either and everytime I get her back up she walks away to lay somewhere else. Do I let her lay around?

I hope that by now you have called your vet. Your pony could very well be colicy and that can be a life-or-death situation.

Anytime you see continual odd behavior, call your vet. You can discuss the situation with him over the phone to determine if it's something that can wait or that you can take care of yourself or if your vet needs to come out immediately.

Please read these 2 articles so that you can be better prepared to know if your horse is colicy and to understand what to do and how serious it can be.

Sounds like a colic to me. Call the vet and don't think twice about it. While the vet is on the way, keep the horse from rolling and keep it walking. Rolling will twist the gut, which is often irreparable.

It's a matter of opinion, but if I see something funny, I personally call the vet first and ask questions later. I keep the barn vet's number on my cell phone just in case, and twice it's kept me out of a lot of trouble.
