sun seeds are really good for coat, mane and tail. I personally use these two sprays:

I think they're the best sprays for coat and mane on the market.

I have heard that mixing a small amount of vegetable oil into their feed helps with shiny coats!!! :)
My friends use it and say it works but i've never had the need to try it.
I find that if you rug a horse their coat is a lot shinier after a week of being rugged. Must be something to do with the rug brushing agianst the hairs and kind of polishing them!!

Vegetable oil in the feed does work. I have a friend who shows arabians at halter. His horses are gorgeous and pampered, and he feeds them a somewhat complicated mix of grains. He puts quite a bit of fatty grains in their feed. Apparently fats help with a shiny coat. I like Showsheen spray to put on the horse's coat going into the ring. It makes them so shiny, and their manes and tail very silky. Just don't put it where the saddle goes if you'll be riding or their backs get slippery.

Yeh all the above plus if you give them their mineral lick that helps!! Other wise just keep the horse rughged and groomed reg!

Cheers

ii put vegetable oil in my horses feeds everyday... it makes such a difference to their coat...

an alternative to 'canter main & tail conditioner' shown in the bottles above... iv found that 'mr sheen' surface polish does the same thing... i dnt spray it above the tail bone... but y pay £6.50 for main & tail conditioner... when you can buy mr sheen for 70p lol

i would have to say vegetable oil too.
i also use a "block". i cant remember what its actuall name is though. its great for malting horses and does leave them nice and shiny.

Good feed, lots of brushing and some vegetable oil on there feed everyday does wonders! I put veggie oil in both my horses feed and they are both very shiny! Even my qh mare who doesnt get brushed as often as she should. But nothing will ever subsitiute lots of brushing it brings the natural oils out of there hair! Show sheens and conditioners work good too (i like Cowboy Magic and some of the Vetrolin products) but there more for adding that extra shine before you hit the ring!
