Hunt seat critique-pictures

I would like some critiques on both me and my horse.
This was at a show yesterday. (Most are of us warming up.)
Thanks!

I think you should shorten your reins a good 4". You don't have much contact with your horses mouth and your elbows are set too far back (it looks as if you're pulling back, but still with no contact?). Also, try to focus on keeping your thumbs facing up.
Your toes should be pointing straight forward, not out to the sides and it looks like your stirrups are too far back towards the arch of your foot. The balls of your feet should be what's resting in the stirrups.
It also looks like maybe you're pinching with your knees a bit? It's hard to tell but you look a little stiff in your lower back and hip, which can be caused by pinching at the knee.
That being said, I really like that you seem focused, with your head up and looking at where you're going. Your horse is lovely. He looks very relaxed and content to be working. Both you and he are turned out very well for a schooling show and seem to be a great match!
Thanks for sharing your pictures :)

Thank you so much! I know that I do have a problem with my hands, not keeping my wrists straight.

You are pinching with your knee and drawing your calves back towards the horse's hindquarter. Is the horse quite lazy? If so, you may be trying to use your heel to ask for forward, but are gripping "up" instead of down and around. Your iron is much too far back and "home" - bring it forwards to the ball of your foot, then sink into your heel. You want the side of your calf touching the horse, think of pressing the insides of your ankles together through your horse. Relax your knee.
Shorten your reins, close your fingers, thumbs on top. Pick your hand up off the withers. Keep your shoulders even.

Me too. I catch myself thinking quite often "oh I can't wait to see what Maura has to say about this!" Then I remember she left :( great loss to the community.

Maura left?? When did this happen? I just figure people got busy with riding when you don't hear from them for awhile.

Yes. Politics and all.
Huge loss to this community.
I'm very - extremely - ecstatic that we keep in touch off HorseForum. I bug her on a regular basis about this or that.
