ovary removal

my thoroughbred mare just had her ovarys removed. before she was not wanted to jump or move her hips over for leadchanges. do yall think that she will be different and want to jump and move her hips over for leadchanges?

You had her spayed, I take it?
Who knows. Did the vet check her out to see if there is a physical reason for her to act that way? I don't know what it would have to do wtih having ovaries...?

Hmmm... I found a diagram of a mare's reproductive system:

The ovaries do seem to be near her hips. Did the vet remove them because of pain or infection? She may not have wanted to jump or move her hips because of the pain in that area.

he removed them because of pain and infection.

That is probably why you found her not wanting to jump or do lead changes. It would definitely put a strain on her movement. I would be cautious about how much work you do with her right now... even though she's got them removed, she is probably still a bit tender from the surgery. Make sure you have vet approval before riding again... you wouldn't want to rip any stitches.

her stitches were removed two weeks after the surgery and we could ride and do light work about a week after it, but she ripped her scar open so that is why i posted the scar ripped open post. do you think that she will be able to be riden after the wound closes up?

Yes, I think you could. Just make sure to get the vet's approval before riding again. It will probably take a while to heal completely. I'd wait as long as is necessary before hopping on again.
