I'm searching for a big horse. As in 16.2+. No gaited breeds, prefer Thoroughbred, Paint, Quarter, maybe a Draft cross but nothing gaited. Doesn't have to be broke, just want a big one. :) In the TN/KY area. Nothing overly expensive, can be a mare, gelding, or stallion. Could be a weanling that is FOR SURE going to reach around 16.2 hands or so. The bigger the better. :-)
A Paint and Quarter aren't going to be easy to find in that size xD Have you tried CL or DH?
I don't know if I can post links, but I looked on Equine.com in your area and found several horses that fit your description. Why are you looking for such a tall one, if you don't mind my asking? :)
My boyfriend's sister has a paint mare with great breeding thats 16.1, she's just learnt that she can rear up & flip over & hurt someone. She's not very safe. Gorgeous mare though, just not a riding horse anymore. I'm just in love with big horses! I have a 17H Thoroughbred gelding & I don't know what it is-- maybe because I'm 5'2" I like having a big horse because I'm bigger than most then! I have horses ranging from 14.3 to 17H so I have them all. Had a 9H pony & a 14H spotted saddle horse mare but I sold her to a little girl. :) I'm really looking for something to stand out in the western show ring. I've found 16-17.3H Paint's but geez they are like 10 grand & up. So yeah. I'm not made of money but I sure wish I was ha.
Oh, they definitely exist. They just aren't typical. My hunt-type Paint is 16.1.
I've tried CL found some Thoroughbreds, a few I'm quite interested in. Problem is they all are an average of 250 or so miles away. The ones closer to me average 15-15.3H. (paint, quarter & TB combined)
