I love working cattle. I got to go home this last few days because I had some time off from work. My brother called and asked for some help working about 18 head of calves. I had so much fun roping and dragging those little hamburgers to the branding iron fire. :) I just thought that I would share some pix of that day. I am so proud, this is the first time that I have actually been able to catch anything consistently when I was roping. I caught about 12 of them before my arm started to get tired and my swing got sloppy. Enjoy. :) Dad playing a bit while we were sorting the mamas and the babies. http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1240661984 Jason deworming the cows before we turned them back out. (much safer done from horseback) http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1240662050 Me looking for the perfect shot. http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1240662201 Dragging the calf to the fire after I caught one. :) http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1240662383 Me and Dobe keeping the rope tight on his back feet while Dad and Jason worked him. http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1240662558 And Dad and Jason working that calf that I was holding. http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1240662744 Going back in for another victim.:lol: http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1240662938 Branding after my arm got tired. Dad and I switched places. (Don't mind my facial expression, I was in the middle of a sentence.) http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1240663196 http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1240663442 It was just so much fun. It was almost like old times when I was a kid working cattle with my family. I was so proud (and I think Dad was too) that I actually had enough confidence to rope and be sucessful. Confidence has been my real issue in the past because I didn't like being watched by someone so much better at it than me and it made me self conscious. Dobe was just the perfect angel (when he wasn't pinning his ears and trying to chew on the calves LOL) and always let me get in the perfect position for my loop. :) Just thought I would share my fun with all of you guys. |
Great pics thanks for sharing! It looks like so much fun :) |

That is great! I love the pictures, and I think you are so lucky to beable to do something like that :D I wanted to work cattle, but my TB just isn't going to go for that. lol. He can Fox Hunt like no tomorrow, facing any type of Wildlife - but cows...that's a whole other story. I think you are very talented to beable to what you do! You and your horse look fabulous together, what a great team you must be to accomplish such tasks! |
Thank you so much MIEventer. We get along well most of the time but we do have our moments when we butt heads. LOL. I have seen some pretty dang good TB cowhorses so there may be hope for your boy yet. :) |
well at least he got the job done!! he sure is fiesty! haha sounds like a fun horse :) |
that does look like fun. thank you for sharing. I wish I was a good enough rider to do that. |
