Oh crap...

BBC NEWS | Americas | Mexico bid to contain deadly flu

BBC NEWS | Americas | Mexico flu 'a potential pandemic'

Hope it won't spread... Even if I think everybody of us knew this would happen some day.

Our local health region has a something set up directly related for a potential, massive flu break out. I think it's matter of time before one comes out.

I think so too. And as we can see, this one is spreading very effectively. Luckily it seems that the mortality rate isn't so high as it could be (so far).

this flu in mexico is a combination of swine, chicken and human flu

New Zealand also has some people with it. they were visiting Mexico

In the U.S. it is showing up in spots, and so far in Ohio we have
one case where the kid just came back from mexico and in New york
a family was visiting relatives in mexico.

Yeah... Besides that it have spread to UK and Spain. Haven't checked the latest updates yet so can't know if it has spread more or whatever...

I think we got our first case(s) today.

My mother and sister are flying to San Diego tomorrow (very near Mexican border) We all insisted she wear a mask while there and on the plane. She poo pooed us but hopefully we got her mind changed and she will wear one. She is 73 and healthy but still in a high risk group.
My husband get a flu shot every year but I think this one is immune to it. :?
I never get sick so I'm not too worried :lol: *knocking on wood and making signs against the evil eye*

Has anyone here been to Mexico? Not to make anyone mad (just fyi), I've been several times and it's a nasty, filthy dirty place. You can't even drink their water without getting really sick. Imagine what their hospitals are like. They don't take procautions and are not sanitary, so there is no surprise to me that this is happening over there. We have the means, healthcare, and medication to fight it here. Several times in the media it was mentioned that an emergency was declared here to simply help lift regulations and obstacles that make getting certain medications available to the public and to doctors to prescribe easier... in case someone does need them here. Of course, you aren't hearing them say that now likely because the media gets ratings by getting a rise out of us.
