Dirty Horse *vent*
AHHHHHHH! I really dislike people who clean their horses like once a year and they are so clean looking. Minimal amount of grooming, maybe just curry them and they are presentable. Unlike Negra, aka PigPen. I have to wash her every week! And I don't just mean hosing her off. She needs to see soap every other week at least. Idk How but if she is in a dry stall, I'll find mud caked onto her head! This vid is of her from today. She JUST had a bath around last Sunday. She was all purdy and CLEAN and was dry when I put her away. I found her like this!
Think about the area the horse is kept in. Is it dusty or muddy? You might have to move the horse if it is getting that bad. Good luck!
Lol her stall is so dry she is having issues with dry hooves XD. And the last 4 places I have had her at its always the same with this goof. I remember a day when I had just moved her into a dry stall. Came back 10 min later and she had mud on her head! I spent 20 min looking for where it came from. Not even a pee spot -_-'. She is just talented. Her stall is a little dusty but she can still do amazing things when I had shavings too. IF there is SOMEWAY she can get dirty she manages it. My bf had not brushed or washed his paint in MONTHS and hes still white! And my silly horse cant manage to stay somewhat clean for a week LMAO!
That almost looks like dried sweat more than dirt to me.
Oh its a bit of everything. She had just came out of heat, she had sweat caked on and most of that was dirt that took forever to try to brush out lol. Some was paint from the fence (idk how, where and what part of the fence, thats the white on her ear) and mud. There is no mud on the property (well there is in the horses stall across from her but he decided he wanted to go swimming in his water). BO used to try and hose her off once a day but gave up, as this horse thinks the horse and the devil are one in the same. I have had this horse for 2 years and she just has a thing about NEEDING to be dirty. Can you scotch guard a horse LOL!
If it isn't too much effort, try keeping cameras near it! That will reveal truth! I'm honestly stumped xD
Pigpen lol. I have a bay gelding I call pigpen. Every morning when I go out he is covered from head to toe in sand, his long mane is tangled in knots. I just give him a good curry, to get the sand out, and use a stiff brush to get it off. Otherwise he has a shiny coat, I hose him and scrap the water off after I ride. I try not to use soap on him more then once a month so the natural oils stay on him.
She does seem to have a talent for getting dirty, which is unusual for bays-they usually look so nice.
It's monsoon season here. Everything is dusty and muddy.
I'm convinced that's why people like buckskins, they never look dirty.
I use a mud and shedding brush to get the dirt and salt off mine.
She sure is a pretty little thing and seems to listen well to you.
LOL! I used to have a sweet little grey mare that I called my "green and white" tobiano. She'd be so clean she was irridescent and then go find a place to roll, always had a fresh pile in it, and she'd come up green & white.
