Anyone use a built up pad? air flow?
Tough-1 Air Flow Shock Absorber PVC Built-Up Saddle Pad - Western Saddles and Tack at Hayneedle

anyone got one of these?

I ordered one for my high withered paint horse and it doesn't get here until Saturday... but I'm curious of how many people like/use them.

pics are great :)

I am not a fan of buildup pads. The problem I tend to see is that it can change the angle that the bars contact the back of the horse causing pressure at therear of the bars. This can sore a horse's loin muscles ending with a hollow back. I am not saying that this will happen to your horse, but I would rather find saddle with a high gullet to accommodate my horse's withers

Build up pads are needed for some horses. Either old and lacking top line or a TB like I have. I use a biofit for him and it has worked fine. I use the one with a fleece bottom on my TB.

I guess I should amend my warning. ...the ones I am worried about are the ones that only have the build up on the front of the pad. ..some do have the build up along the whole length of the pad to prevent the shift in pressure.
