I wont be riding for 4 weeks..
As I am taking an Equine Massage course!

For my last ride on Squiggs, I decided to just go for it and let her run.

It wasnt perfect, her rider was a little too cautious and didnt let her go do her job, so I was all up in her grill :/ but she handled it well in spite of that.

It would have been better if I would have just grew a pair and dropped my hand to my saddle horn, like I know how to do.
She also slipped on second, which messed up the run for both of us as I safety-d up pretty bad after...

I did remember to keep a STRONG inside leg on her, so yay me!

But, I have to put this disclaimer:
No critiques please :? Its far from perfect, I know, and there is still a lot of work I need to do still, and I dont plan on running her again for a long time.

Thank you!

Congrats, fun ride!!
I would love to do a massage course!!
I'm on the no riding for four weeks too, only not for a fun reason like yours... But cause I'm getting better after a bad car accident :(

Awesome video! I love the way the dust flew from around that barrel. Looks like sooo much fun!

I would love to do a massage course. I was reading about a massage technique that can help with upright / club feet really interesting stuff.

Good Luck!!

Which class are you doing? I'm planning to do one that's big in the nw. You do the class online and then go away to a specific site for like 4 days and get hands on practice and testing. It sounds so awesome!

Ive never asked her to open up for any reason besides chasing a cow, so she hasn't got enough experience running to know what its all about.

And I'm aware my riding was awful, and I'm kicking myself in the butt for it, as after, I realized I could have went to the horn and kept my hand low and quiet :/ but my experience in riding a hot headed horse sensitive critter on a barrel pattern is quite limited!

Additionally, loose and dry powdery sand = not good running ground.

She's a great ride! Good for y'all!!! It's a great start. Like you said, the horn would have balanced you in your turns, but man, she knows how to tuck that butt, doesn't she. I wish my greenie were to that point. My finished barrel mare is big like your horse and its so cool how they can use that motor despite their size. The weeds would drive me nuts! Doesn't seem to phase her though. :)

good luck with your Course. I thought about doing that myself. I am not sure if they even offer it around here.
