So glad it was hubby's horse & not mine
That decided to barrel through the fence and go play on the road at 10:00 p.m. I'd never hear the end of it if it was one of mine (technically they're all both of ours but we tend to divide them into his and hers).
How she managed to tear out 3 strands of a 4 strand high tensile fence and come away with only a few minor scrapes is beyond me. When our neighbor came to the house to let us know he said it looked like a semi had gone through the fence. Well, after we found out who the culprit was he was pretty much right since Cloud is about the size of a semi. She not only ripped out about 200 feet of fence she tore off insulators and broke a tension spring.
The other 5 of her herd mates were still in the pasture where they belonged.
I bet if somebody wanted a beautiful black/white APHA mare they'd be able to buy her pretty cheap if they stopped by while fence repair was going on tomorrow:wink:
she is a lovely horse
Pretty mare :)
You're sure it was her that took the fence down?
aah horses can be brats but we love them despite it.
Had to be her. She was the only one out and I checked over the whole gang for any signs of injury and she was the only one with scrapes.
The pasture they are in does a "U" around the house & driveway. My guess is that she was snoozing and the other horses left her and went around to the other side of the driveway. She must have freaked out that they were across from her and tried to jump the fence. That is pretty much the only scenario that I can come up with. She had been up and down the drive because she left a poo trail. How we didn't hear anything I don't know.
Here's a pic. to give you a better idea. As you're looking at it the whole right side was tore out, all the way down the drive.
you would think she'd go oh my friends are over there, let me calmly walk around the house as I have done several times before"
horse logic eh?
