my mini has a runny nose with no other symptoms.
My mini is a little over a year old. He's had a runny nose for about a week. Mostly after I grain him. He seems ok otherwise. I thought he looks a little bloated. Im not sure. Im new to horses so im not sure. The runny nose looks clear. Do I need to call the vet? Please help this newbie horse lover!
I would explore the possibility of allergies. Take his temp. If it isn't normal it's probably something else. Has he been coughing?

Clear is good. It is nothing more than tears. A horse's eye drains through a duct that runs down the front of his face and end in his nostrils. White is usually allergies. Yellow or green is something to worry about.
Minis need very little food and are often look bloated or fat. I'd be very careful with what and how much he is fed. I wouldn't be feeding him any grains. He does need vitamin and minerals and perhaps a protein source depending upon the forage he gets but a ration balancer is as much candy as he needs.
