Convincing my mom to get this dog back?
My dad adopted a dog from the animal shelter after my parents divorced. The dog is about 8 years old now, and my dad got rid of him for a bunch of different reasons.
I know who the owner is, and I really want to get him back.
I want to convince my mom to let us take him. I think she'll say no because of how many animals we have. A dog, and 8 cats (we took in a cat that got pregnant, 3 babies still left that are about 10 weeks old). We planned to only keep one of the kittens, but I would be willing to take the momma and kitten(s) to the barn. I'd even consider taking another one of our strays to the barn.
I think the second issue is our other dog. She's getting up there, and she's having problems with her hips and her bathroom habits. Often she can't get up unless she's on carpet or we pick her up, and she goes to the bathroom on the floor because she doesn't know she's going. She also tends to like people more than dogs. She won't get aggressive, but she isn't extremely social with other dogs.
I think this dog could help her, because he has more energy and he's a total sweetheart.
How should I approach my mom about this? Any ideas on good points I could make?
Number one, you're mother doesn't want the dog. Number two, what makes you think the current owners would be willing to give him to you even if your mother said yes?
