conformation critique! (2 yr old AQHA)
This is Macey, my 2 year old reg quarter horse.
I have put 2 1/2 months training on her this summer so shes put on a lot of muscle. She is my production project for 4H and i will be taking her to states next month in halter! This is her first year showing and im super excited and very proud of all her progress! I know her faults but would like to know what yall think of her. Thanks:)
(ps. some of you may notice a large scar on her left front leg. i just wanna let you know she did that as a yearling after escaping from her stall and getting caught in some machinery. i know its ugly and i hate it but it is what it is i guess :/)
I'm not great at conformation, which makes my post utterly useless, but I HAD to tell you how absolutely lovely I think she is!! :)
I love the dapples and she has a very fine face. What a pretty girl!
Her hind legs look a little funky to me.
What I do no is she is sickle hocked.
But she's absolutely gorgeous!!!
She is very sickle hocked behind as well as bow legged and very very tied in at the knee. Both flaws on this horse are significant and will likely impact her soundness. She has a nicely laid back shoulder and a good neck set. Her withers tie nicely into her neck and into her back which is nice and short. Her croup is a little steep.
Her upper body is very nice and I do like her color. Too bad about her legs.
thank you! i think shes beautiful too:3
yes. she is sickle hocked you are right about that. she is also a bit camped out behind..nt sure if you can tell. in this picture she does appear bowlegged but im sure shes not. thank you everyone for your comments! much appreciated:)
