Team Roping Help Hey I am getting into team roping and need some help. So far I can throw the rope around her head and she is pretty used to cattle. Just wondering if anybody had any more tips/ideas for me to do with her. Thanks.. |
Have you worked more on how she is in the box? Keeping her good and calm. Also, I would work on getting her to stop good, and try to get her to stop without using reins and only using your body. This makes it easier, especially heeling, and it's a lot better on her mouth. Another thing you could start doing is introducing her to pressure on the saddle horn and eventually pull a tire or log around. I don't know how far along you are, but those are just a few things I thought of |
Thanks a lot. I'm wanting to be a header, but she has a problem backing up for some reason. When I first got her she backed great but now when I try she rears up on her back legs and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.. |
Have you tried backing her from the ground? If she has problems with that then the problem may either be psychological or physical. If she doesn't have problems then something is either confusing her or hurting her while you are asking her to back up while in the saddle |
Actually I went out yesterday and backed her up on the ground just with the halter and she did fine then I got on her and she backed up great. I have no idea what was wrong with her before but she is great now. Thanks for the help. |
