saddle problems with for sale horse
I'm selling Montana due to my pregnancy and being unable to currently ride and knowing I'll have zero time after the baby is born.
I had bought a new wintec saddle with the changeable gullets back in March, but I found out I was pregnant in March and haven't even put the saddle on him, let alone ride in it. And I want to be the first one to use it since it's my saddle (that may be selfish)
But my problem comes from the other saddle I have. It's a bit tight on him, depending on what saddle pad I have on. I know a poor saddle fit can cause a horse to act up, but its an older saddle that I don't care what happens to it. Its my back up saddle.
But I have no idea what to do when people come out to ride Montana. Do I fit the wintec to him and not be the first person to ride in it/break it in, or do I put the crosby on him?
Sorry if this sounds silly and I'm sure most of you would be like "put the wintec on him, its only a saddle" but I saved my money and bought it, instead of having my fiance buy it for me, so it has some meaning to it, whether it be silly or not.
Another option i'm sure I could is ask my BO if I could borrow her endurance saddle, though I dont know if that would fit him.
Fit the Wintec to him and let potential buyers use it. There is no break-in time for Wnitecs that have CAIR panels. It shouldn't matter who uses it first.
You could always have your trainer or BO ride him in it a couple times to make sure it fits and he likes it.
I dont have a trainer and I'm not sure if my BO would ride him (I'd have to ask)
I'll fit the wintec to him tomorrow.
Congrats on coming baby! :)
I would go with the wintec. If a prospective buyer comes to look at the horse, you want to rule out any kind of pain caused by the saddle that could cause him to act up. This time, put selling the horse to a good home first :) Good luck selling him and congrats on the baby!
Yet another option, have the buyer bring their own saddle to try the horse. Check fit before someone swings up though.
Thanks for the congrats! We're very excited!
I'm going to fit the wintec to him today (after all the appointments) and see if he lunges better and then ask my BO if she wouldn't mind getting on him.
Anyone else that's coming out I'll tell them they're welcome to bring their saddle to try on him.
Great idea, mls
