setting up good jumps
hi i have been jumping heaps lately but any tip on seting up good high jumps that won't freak my horse and I don't have enough money to buy proper jumps
I only have barrels and poles that is it I use cross jumps and straights but some times my mare will jump one jump and won't jump another that is the same hight so plz help mmmeee
Here are some things I do cause I have to pretty much make do with what I have...
Use tyres, they are free
Use cardboard for fillers
Hope that is some ideas for you.
If you have scrap pieces of would you can make a wooden gate that is alway a nice jump
ok thank you
When you put the jumps up higher make sure you have something underneath as a filler and a good solid ground line. Horses don't like to jump really airy jumps as they can't judge the distance as well.
Ideas for fillers:
- boxes or crates
- barrels - Make sure you secure them somehow though. If your horse hits it by accident it could roll forward and the horse could trip over it. Also have a ground line in front of the barrel. The horse will look at the base and could not realize that it's round and that he has to jump sooner).
