And all this happened yesterday...wow
Yesterday was good, bad and in between. My riding lesson was awful. I was on Sonnett and he was very sore and he refused to do anything. For half an hour I battled with him to get him to work, but in the end my riding instructor told me to dismount and she put me on her horse what is about 16-17hh. It was very high and scary, but he was a great horse. And the rest of my group was envious because they all want to try riding him but she never lets anyone ride him but her. But she let me ride him. She tried getting Sonnett to work, but gave up also. When I went back to the dismounting arena, the next group was already waiting for tehir lesson and they all ran up to me and were asking why I was riding my riding instructors horse. Then I heard one of the kids ask the riding instructor if she could ride him ^^
Bad news though. 2 ponies spilt their legs open during the night from some tin or something. They both had a bandage on their leg and we got to watch the vet do one of their legs. He drugged them first and they were practically falling over..My riding instructor was trying to keep them awake while the vet looked after the wound. They don't know how they hurt their legs, but my riding instructor took about 8 riders out into all the paddocks and arena's to try and find it..I don't know if they found it...
Good news(sorry this is so big) My mum says I can get a beginner horse in the future if I get a part time job and buy the horse myself. She just wants to know if I am dedicated and all....
Sorry your horse was not feeling well, but CONGRATS on the compliment of being allowed to ride your instructor's horse and for being given the ok to buy a horse for yourself!!!
Sonnett isn't my horse. He is the riding clubs own horse.
First I have to save up alot of money to buy my own horse.
Yeah, well. I have no idea how I am supposed to be able to buy a horse by myself, all the equipment and feed it so I probaly wont ever be able to get a horse. :(
To make it worse, everyone in my beginner riding group has got their own horse and practice trotting on them at home after their lesson so I am really far behind and everyone is about to start cantering and I still can barely trott!
wow what a crazy day. Thats awsome that you were the "star" of the day.
Sounded like a crazy day! Don't worry I had to wait 5 years after I started riding lessons to get a horse and I kinda wished I waited a bit longer so I could get more experience.
I found it quite weird that she tried to get Sonnet working even though he was sore. Did he get the rest of the day off? Poor old fella! He is a good horse.
you are very lucky! When i was younger I was taking lessons weekly, and working at a barn part time cleaning stalls, turning horses out, etc... I asked my dad if I bought the horse myself would he pay for boarding. He flat out said NO and that was the end of it. I continued taking lessons though and learned a lot. Ask if you can do chores around the barn to earn some money
We don't have a barn and if we help out at my riding club, it has to be free work. My riding instructor was trying to get him to work just a tiny bit. I'm not sure whether she knew he was sore, but she gave up and got off and just watched us ride. He got the rest of the day off.. :)
Sounds fun! =]
Don't worry about a late start cantering. My first lesson I rode a REALLY stubborn pony who is actually sometimes ridden by the advanced riders.. I'm in advanced now and sometimes still ride him! I just couldn't trot him! I got the hang of it eventually though.
lol :) He has a great trott, but the other pony Melody has an even better one...It is soooooo smooth! :D
