Grooming day. Before. He never really LOOKS dirty, but ohhh he is. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2231/...087790ea_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3404/...4845c244_b.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2284/...b8190be7_b.jpg First up his mane. I decided to do something I've never done before. I want his mane to grow long. We recently had an incident with a running braid and him RUBBING on it, and rubbed off a chunk of his mane. So I'm trying a Friesian mane growing trick. If it works for them maybe it'll work for Ethan. Anyhow, I also did something I never thought I'd do. I cut a bridle path. I never "got" the point. It always seemed like it didn't matter. Then again I'd only seen photos and of course no one cuts bridle paths on Friesians. ;) SO I did it, and you know what? I like it. It looks so much cleaner. Before. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2238/...be5869dc_b.jpg After cutting the path. I've never done it before. I don't think I did too bad. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3327/...73a539b0_b.jpg He was so sleepy by the time I was done cutting. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2082/...b68f7878_b.jpg Now after I massaged some special sauce into his mane and into the roots. He LOVED the massage. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3343/...ebc1814d_b.jpg Put some nice even braids in. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2181/...96156080_b.jpg Then I wrapped them. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2202/...e822f30f_b.jpg Pink of course. Then I parted his forlock down the middle on accident and loled. He's Dr. Spock. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3646/...fc905218_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3555/...a8570862_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3550/...0c196fec_b.jpg His tail touches the ground, he's got such a fabulous tail. I wish he had some mane and forelock too. He's look great with thick eye length forelock darn it. |
Was dark by the time I was done. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2420/...c286101a_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3365/...0bd55c52_b.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2188/...5e07af03_b.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2133/...ceae27e3_b.jpg He looks so awkward and weird, his head is HUGE! http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2119/...e56914bd_b.jpg Darn redeye! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3617/...b5b6ceae_b.jpg The End. |
Looks great..we had grooming day today also |
hah, he looks so funky with those pink wraps & braids. Good luck with the mane. Your bridle path looks good too! |
Oh, do share how the mane trick worked. I'd really like to see. I'm also growing Java's out. It was pulled and very short due to halter classes before. I want it LONG now! |
What a cutie! :) |
he looks so hansome!! i want to know the fresian mane secret!!!! a horse i might get has a short mane i want it long. |
I'd like to know the "ancient Chinese secret" too! My Mustang's tail is thick & touches the ground, too, but his mane is so thick...it seems like it's not growing long. |
He is a beautiful horse :) |
