Repairing my saddle blanket...?

I have a wool saddle blanket, forgot the brand but I can check today. It's a nice looking blanket, but it's torn now up by the top, on the right side. The tear is about an inch in a half or so long (it's probably shorter, I'm just going off general terrible memory here).

The tear doesn't sit under the saddle, but I still fret about it. It's my only saddle blanket right now and I'm worried it will rub or otherwise cause irritation or become problematic. Could I repair this with some needle and thread?

It sounds pretty minor. I should think you would be able to repair it. Whether or not it would look too pretty, I'm not sure. Otherwise I know (at least here) you can take it to your local tack shop? They can either fix it or send it in for you to get it fixed.

So long as the torn place is not rubbing anywhere on the horse, it should be fine to fix it. Although you could probably get a new one for less than $50 at your local tack store.
