Just thought I'd let you know that I'm still alive!
I haven't posted in several months, since about the beginning of the summer..
I had one thread where I stated I was going to be working 7 days a week...
And yes, I did. All summer. I had 7 days off TOTAL the whole summer..there was a few days were I would go into one job at 7am, get off at 7, then go to the next job to work till midnight, then wake up at 6 am to work again. (I had a summer internship through the NRHA, and worked at White Water Bay on weekends). It wore me down physically and mentally. But, I did get several things accomplished. I paid off my horse that I have bought 100% with my money, I bought a completely new show outfit, got all the horses teeth floated and my boys sheaths cleaned, was completely financially stable... I didn't get a new(to me) truck or saddle, but I'm still proud of how far I got. Needless to say there wasn't a lot of free time, but I pushed my limits to get things accomplished and I'm proud of that.
Updates on my ponies --
Rosie - We are on our way to speed event champion through the OkFQHR:) I rejoined Drill to fill in and finish out their season. She's been as steady as ever, not a whole lot to say. My drill coach will be riding her at a drill competition that I won't be able to make it to. One of these days I'd like to semi retire her, but I want to keep her active to help her stay healthy. This 22 year old mare goes and goes and goes...
Sassy - She is about to win her first belt buckle:D it's Only a local round up club playday buckle, and there is only 1-2 other horses, but still. Every small victory is still a victory:) We've come along way. I've ridden her in drill as well, and she is doing very great and really rates all the other horses, however I cannot take her places with closed wall stalls. We went to the State fair competition, and although she could see Rosie through the front of her stall, she was in pure panic mode. Wound up getting her leg stuck in her water bucket, then hay bag, then knocked down her fan and fan holder off the top of the stall with her face, in about 3 minutes. Gah.
Dusty - gets better and better with every ride! He is such a hard worker and really tries. He picked up lead changes after one ride, is getting better on his spins, and really gets into his stops:) I found a lady through the OkFQHR to help me with him since my trainer moved 3.5 hours away. I've been able to go through an entire reining pattern with a rope around his neck, he's such a people pleaser. Can't say enough good things about him! Horses through his dam always mature very late, but he is FINALLY starting to fill out!:D
Playboy - Our patterns are almost flawless:) Had a trainer tell me some exercises to help his spins, he goes really good one way and is getting better with each ride. I went to a clinic with Mike Jeffcoat and Kenny Wall, and we learned a lot of stuff and I got a lot of complements on him. He is paid off and in mine name!:) I am neck and neck with a girl in foundation to win the Versatility saddle. I have been working so hard to achieve this goal over the last few years, and this is my last chance to win as a youth. I am 3 points behind, at the last show I got 14 points in all my classes but didn't place in halter, and the other girl got 1st in halter which gave her 13 points, and got 4 points from the other classes. Tell me that isn't messed up :/
As far as me....I'm in my second year of college, I'm on the equestrian team and pointed out of my level and qualified for regionals in the spring!:) I am thankfully unemployed, I have more time to focus on school. I did get offered a position on weekends helping with weddings at the historic chapel managed by the school, so I'm pretty excited for that since I want to be a wedding planner! My boyfriend and I had our 3.5 year anniversary over the summer, we are doing great as ever. He gave me riding rights to his horse, haha yay!:D and follow me on Instagram please, @rideareiner ;) lol
My main goals for next year are to graduate, get accepted to OSU, find a rental propert for me and my horses, and to start AQHA shows:)
So HELLO everyone, I'm back to stalk foaling threads, randomly troll, gawk at y'all's pictures, ask for help and hopefully be able to give some advice :D
Welcome back! Sounds like things are going well for you!
We haven't met, but I look forward to future conversations~
Same here! (:
Welcome back, but I need to go lie down and rest after reading your description of your work day.
Lol! Thankfully that just happened while the Derby was in town and I was working in the show office. Normally it was just 8-5 on weekdays (except Fridays, I worked till midnight at the water park for movie night), 8-8 on weekends.
