Safety vests

I am considering getting one. I know they are expensive, and I really don't do any super dangerous riding, but I'd like to be safe and riding on its own is a dangerous sport. Also, a majority of the time I ride a badly trained, green horse with a tendency to buck pretty violently. I'd like to be protected if I ever fell.

So, that said, does anyone else ride with a vest? What do you like/dislike about vests? What kind/brand do you use and where did you get it? What was the price? How long do vests last? I would appreciate any other information. Thank you!

I have the Airowear Outlyne. I have no complaints about the way it fits. It initially feels like a turtle shell but I quickly forget it's on. I ordered mine from the UK. It ended up being about $240 including shipping. Love that it comes in colors over there. I really don't know how long they last. I was also wondering that since I recently hit the dirt in mine. I'm wondering if it's like helmets and they have X number of falls in them before they don't offer much protection anymore.

Even if you do ride in a vest, don't fall into the false sense of thinking you no longer can get hurt. If you come off, still try to roll and not take the blow all in one spot.
