hoof colour
my fren rekonz that when a horses hooves hav white stripes thru them or fully white it hasnt got enuf nutrients? is this right or wrong? coz i juz thought it was the colour that decides

If you means it have the white markings on the legs to the hooves, then hooves will be light colors, it is normal. If there are no white markings on the legs, then the hooves are dark colored.

I hope my answer is correct for your question.

Karkar27 please do not use net speak alot of people do not understand it. You have over used it in this topic..

I know this is usually for moderators but it was annoying me, sorry

sweetypie16 08-15-2007 10:40 PM

annoying!! White strips on a balck hoof usually means it is a appolusa breeding-NOT MINERAL LOSS!! If the hoof breaks down easy-if it is hard and not soft-ask your farrier (this is really hard to explain on the intranet) If its got cracks, holes ect it usally means lack on minerals or hard country (dry). KARAKAR27 please write so we can understand

Heres a picture of my Mule Bobbi, her hooves are striped.
My farrier told me, white hooves, don't hold shoes as good as the black. So theres something, with the white. But I'v never had a problem! I think they are pretty cool, and different. They dont bother me a bit.

the black lines in the hooves are ok..yes white hooves to tend to be a bit weaker than black hooves..
only thing i can see wrong with those feet please dont take this the wrong way,are they need to be trimmed.

Yeah, I I just got her a few weeks ago, and she is touchy about her feet. My farrier is busy, so I'm trying to get ahold of someone, now.
