My cob has large swellings in the elbows on the forelegs. My vet says it is probably caused by trauma from the hind legs when getting up and down. She didnt want to do anything with them as they are not troubling him but suggested I just keep any eye on them. Can anyone suggest anything I could do to help - I have tried the rubber rings on his hind legs but they keep coming off. thanks embee

By the sounds of it your horse has what we in the UK called a capped elbow . It is purely a cosmetic injury normally caused when a horse does not have enough bedding and the hind legs strike the elbow .

Make sure that you give your horse a good bed to stop it getting worse.

Your vet is correct when she says that don't worry about it.
