Surgery a success!!!!

So I just got back from the vet and Dobe's surgery was a success. Both of the melanomas were removed completely and the vet says it looks good. He examined him and didn't see any signs of any more developing yet so maybe we will have a while before he gets more......I hope. :) Right now, Dobe is hating on me because he is gonna have to be kept as immobile as possible for the next 10 days until the stitches come out so it is in the roundpen for him. Here is a before and an after pic. I know it looks ugly right now but it is a little swollen along with the yellow disinfectant stuff they sprayed on them. I feel much better now that it is over. :D

This is what his butt looked like before

This pic is also from before, it really shows how raised the one on the left was.

And this is from after. Poor guy. I feel so sorry for him, I know that is gonna start hurting when the drugs wear off. :''(

Fantastic! Great news smrobs! Thanks for keeping us informed. Yeah, keeping an otherwise healthy horse "quiet" is not an easy task. Good luck with that! :)

oo thats great to hear!! its always tricky when a horse has surgery, but he seems to have done pretty well. i hope this is the trick and the melanomas dont return

Glad to hear the surgery was successful. So many grey's get those. I hope your boy doesn't ever get another one!

Thank you all. I guess it was more of a day surgery. He just tranqed him and then used a local BUT STILL. He did use a scalpel.................so that is surgery, right? LOL. I am so relieved that the whole thing is over and maybe he won't get another one for a long time. I am just sad that I won't get to use him working cattle tomorrow. But, hey, anything to keep my boy healthy and happy.
