It's been too long
Hey guys, sorry I have been MIA. So much has been happening. For starters, I was having some health issues, a LOT of abdominal pain, I'm talking debilitating abdominal pain (keeping me from being able to get out of bed), that my doctor kept passing off as IBS without really doing ANY examination. He also kept ignoring a lump I found in my breast. I finally changed doctors back in late June and the next thing I knew I was going through rotating doors in and out of multiple surgeries. I'm just now getting back on my feet. I now have a clean bill of health along with no more lumps or pain. The lump was benign but it turned out that the abdominal issues could have cost my life if they hadn't been found or fixed...which they are all good to go now.
My son has been going through therapies and is now in preschool so that he may later have a normal life with Autism. My mom is getting closer and closer to having to be declared incompetent and through all this poor Cinny has been waiting on the sidelines.
That's right, he has been on vacation since June and living it up in the paddock with the babies (horses 2 and under). He has proven a great playmate and babysitter and now the barn owner wants to start turning out her knew yearling she just bought with him......it makes me proud that he can be trusted with the little ones.
I started riding this week, but we are both taking it slow. Cin has lost most of his muscle tone. It's hard for me to get down there with everything going on and I had a friend lunging him. She said he was doing well but last week I got a few texts from my barn owner telling me Cin needed grain because he's dropping weight. She wouldn't be so concerned unless he was getting really bad, which is rare because he is such an EASY keeper normally. So I got a little concerned that something is wrong with hiim and got out there as soon as I could and this is what I found.
Yup, he's really EMACIATED alright LOL.
Anyway, that's it in a nut shell. It's good to get back into doing my usual things, and I look forward to meeting all of the newbies that have joined since I was last on.
Wow! what a lot you have had on your plate. I've had ongoing health issues this summer, too, but nothing that bad. I hope that you are going to start feeling just brimming with health over the winter and next summer will be superb. Cinny probably loved every minute of his vacation.
I actually feel great NOW. Last surgery was the end of August. I still get tired a little easy but I'm out walking 5 miles a day, starting a little jogging up and now back to riding again. I'm hoping that soon I stop being so tired by 6pm though. :)
I'd be thrilled to be comfortable walking 5 miles.
 Hi, I'm Paula...a newbie since you were last on! So glad they were able to resolve your pain and that you're back to riding, slowly but surely. Sure your boy enjoyed his vacation. Nice to "meet" you!
Hi Paula. Nice to meet you too. I actually can't get back to riding fast enough, ask anyone here who knows me, I'm impatient as heck. But Poor Cin is really out of shape so even if I'm feeling better, he needs brought back. Yesterday we just walked around the arena while I asked him to bend and raise his tummy (I ride dressage) and go through his back. After half an hour he was huffing and puffing like a TB after it's first race. He has back and sacroiliac issues so I need to work on his top line again before doing much, especially since I gained 30 pounds from all the bed rest :(
But, we are at a great "start over" place where we can start at the beginning and do things correctly before moving on to the next step. I just have to remember to be patient and wait for him to physically be able to do something correctly before just slamming him into things causing him to improvise and not be correct in order to just get through the exercise...which is what happened when I first got him.
