I've had my horse for 2 years so it's not like I don't have a good bond with her. But we're going through a rough patch because I haven't ridden her in a couple weeks and I haven't done much more than feed her, groom her, and turn her out.
What else can I do to bond with her? Even something simple? Thanks!
But if you don't have a lot of time on your hands then spending 10 extra minutes a day when feeding just to fuss your horse and spend time with her helps your bond. And grooming is an excellent way to create a bond by the way!!
Judging from your other thread I would say bonding isn't your issue.
You really need to instill discipline, with that the respect will come.
The respect creates the relationship.
Roundpenning
Join-up
Teaching her to disengage her body parts to pressure
Lunging
Changing directions on the lunge without you having to stop and reposition her
Have her walk over small obstacles and scary objects
Have her walk politely, changing direction, gait and back up when you do (so if you speed up, she should start trotting without you yanking on her, she should stop when you stop, back up when you do, etc)
Look up some videos or buy them or rent them.
"Gaining Respect and Control on the Ground" by Clinton Anderson is pretty good, and I think there's youtube snippets
"Roundpenning for Respect" by Clinton Anderson is also handy
Try looking on google and youtube for 'groundwork exercises'
