gelding or stallion????
 

I took in a rescue horse, 20-/+ yrs.old, I was told he was a gelding, but the other day I was putting mtg on him(he is the 1 with rain rot) I happened to look down there and he looks like he has testicles, so I reached up and there is something there,I even had my husband take a feel and he too said yeah theres something there.The rescue shelter where he came from said no he is a gelding. Does anyone know what it can be? I will have my vet out in a other 2 weeks for his teeth float and I will ask then, but sometimes I see them and other times I dont.

Nancy, that's odd. I would definitely ask my vet.

I agree the vet needs to check him if in fact he is gelded it's possible he could have a tumor or something or he had retained one when they gelded him and it finally dropped, I've never heard of that happening so late in life but you never know anything is possible. Either way I'd keep him away from any girls that may be cycling till the vet can get a look at him.. Good Luck!

yes it is weird, I dont have any mares to worry about.I will have the vet take a look.

Pictures? Could be scar tissue from an improper gelding, where some of the scrotum was left (scar tissue formed inside the sack). Normally they're pretty big and are noticeable without having to feel ;-).

Is it big? I've heard of vets not removing them all the way (accidentaly), and they end up impregnanting mares.

well I will try to get pics,I dont see them all the time, its like the testicles drop and that is when you can see them.Big? big enough to fit in my hand, hahaha. let me go see if I can get pics.
