Saddleseat...What type of horse?

What types of horses can be used for saddleseat? Most people know of Saddlebreds to be in it. But for example, could a Quarter horse be in it?

Thanks..

Quarter Horses, Appys, Paints, etc. do have their own type of saddleseat, but I think that animation is acutally discouraged (correct me if I'm wrong though, not 100% sure!). It looks alot different from the saddleseat I grew up around, lol. Although more power to them, it's still pretty cool!

Other breeds that are good for saddleseat are breeds like, Arabs and Arab crosses, Morgans, Hackneys, etc.

Arab (my personal favorite! lol):

*sigh* Now there's some animation. lol. That's Apollopalooza. Awesome Park horse. RIP.

saddleseat is usually reserved for 3 and 5 gaited horses, that are naturally gaited that way. although you can show other breeds in it and yes, usually the animation is discouraged only because its not natural for say a quarter horse to animate like that, it is replicated with weighted and wedged shoes, which in my opinion is just not healthy....

Yeah, that is a good point: it really depends on which classes you want to show in. Honestly, I've only seen Friesians compete in classes against other Friesians...but I'm not a saddleseat expert either, its just hard to get away from it where I live:P I'm a big fan of saddlebreds, personally. For all their flash, they can be extremely level-headed as well.
