70 yr old olympic rider
This is nuts! I had never heard of him before! this japanese fellow is 70 yrs old!!! equestrian Hiroshi Hoketsu.
My coach rode in a WEG at 59.
There's lots of mature riders at the international level :) Gives the rest of us some hope!! :P

Ian Millar is probably pushing 70 by now!
Takes about that long for us 'normaltons' to get to that level anyway haha! Hell by the time I have enough cash put away for a really, REALLY nice young horse and the training to get to GP, I'll be pushing 80.
I'll settle with my lovely little youngster, decent coach and a career that I love for now ;)
Unreal! I would hope I could still be riding at that age, tho at the same time maybe it's best I dont
Ian has a few years to go yet. Look at the posture and flexibility of this gentleman.
He's been around a LONG time. He competed in the 1964 Summer Olympics, finishing 40th in the show jumping. He finished 9th in dressage in the 2008 Olympics.
I'm always glad to see he is still competing (even if he DID go to Duke...BLAH!!).
He has ridden in several Olympics, and is a neat guy. However, the oldest (dressage) rider was Lorna Johnstone (british) in the 76 munich games. She rode a very difficult stallion and still finished in the top 12!!!! The oldest even rider was from Australia.
A very nice ride for anyone, of any age. Omedetou Gozaimasu! ( congratulations!, in Japanese).
My trainer is 63 and can outride me anytime, anywhere! She's showing GP this weekend.
